Warrant issued for Cowboys WR Lucky Whitehead on shoplifting charge, report says

A Virginia court has issued a warrant for the arrest of Cowboys wide receiver Lucky Whitehead in relation to a shoplifting charge, TMZ reported.

According to the warrant, Whitehead failed to appear in court for a July 6 arraignment after he was arrested for shoplifting/petit larceny under $200 in Prince William County.

When Whitehead didn’t show up to his arraignment, the warrant was issued.

TMZ reported Whitehead allegedly stole items from a convenience store on June 22.

He has another court hearing scheduled for Aug. 10, according to NFL.com, which added that a Cowboys spokesman said the team has no comment on the matter.

It’s not the first time Whitehead has made headlines this month — he recently claimed that his dog was stolen and being held for ransom by a rapper. Whitehead said he got the dog back after paying an undisclosed amount.

Former Seahawk and Raider Malcolm Smith will likely bounce around from WILL and OTTO. Aaron Lynch, who is now listed as an end, and Armstead had been the best options for LEO pass-rush duties playing off either Bowman or Foster.

But with Lynch moving from linebacker and Armstead adjusting to a new scheme, the team was smart to sign former Raven Elvis Dumervil late in free agency. The 33-year-old still proflic sack artist still has plenty left as the ideal LEO and gives the group much-needed experience. John Lynch played with Dumervil in Denver, and trusts him as an on-field leader all these years later.

All that leaves Eli Harold as a swing backup at best and Ahmad Brooks, 33 and in the final year of his contract, as a likely camp cut.
